Here at Station 24, we are proud to have 8 Fire Apparatus.
First, we have 2411. 2411 is a Rosenbauer Engine with 1,000 gallons of water and seating for 6. It is our first out engine for all in-district Structure Fires, Car crashes (10-50s as we call them), and Service Calls. It is our second out engine for Medical Calls.
Next we have 2432. 2432 is a E-One Pumper/Tanker with 1,500 gallons of water (the biggest tank we have) and seating for 5. 2432 is our second out truck for in-district Structure Fires, but first out on Mutual Aid Calls.
Our third truck is another E-One Pumper/Tanker. 2431 is our first out truck for in-district Brush Fires, and second out for Traffic Control on any 10-50 or other call where traffic is a safety concern.
Fourth is our Brush Truck. 2441 is a Dodge 3500 4×4 that we added a hose reel, pump, and 250 gallon water tank to. It follows 2431 out to Brush Fires, assists with Medical Calls, and is the fastest truck we have.
Fifth, and most frequently used, is 2442. 2442 is another Brush Truck, this time a Ford F550 that, like 2441, we added a hose reel, pump, and 250 gallon water tank to. It is our first out on Medical Calls and second out for Brush Fires.
Then we have 2461. 2461 is an Air Truck, meaning it has a special compressor on it that we use to refill our Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), the air packs we use during fire attacks. 2461 is a special truck, not just because it is one of just a few in the county, but because it severed at the Pentagon during 9/11. We are proud to have it and carry on its legacy of unrelenting service to the community.
Second to last is 2491. 2491 is another (slower) Dodge 2500 that we use for administrative duties. When there are Station errands to run in town or a Firefighter is taking a class, we use 2491.
Finally, we have Boat 24. Its a flat hulled rescue boat we use for water rescues on the Cape Fear River. Its usually towed by 2491. Luckily, we don’t have to use our Boat very often. When the Boat is dry, everyone is being safe.
